Bukan Pengajaran Tetapi Kompaun Yang Membebankan– Zahid Hamidi

Not to educate but more of a nuisance – Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 – The government’s action of imposing a RM10,000 compound on individuals who violate the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) of COVID-19 prevention starting March 11, 2021 has caused concern among the people.
UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the new rules were firm but it could lead to public anger.
“I understand the government’s has to take stringent action to contain the pandemic. However, such a high compound is like cracking the necks of the people who are currently struggling with the high cost of living.
“We thank the government for introducing I-Sinar EPF withdrawal of RM10,000, I-Lestari RM500 per month, Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) and PERMAI,” he said in a post on Facebook, today.
However, Zahid who is also the Member of Parliament for Bagan Datuk commented that many has began to ridicule  the aid which will eventually go back to the government’s purse if they accidentally violate the SOP.
“We are all aware that the people are facing economic predicament coupled with high rate of unemployment. If a compound of RM10,000 is imposed, how much monthly salary will suffice in order for them to pay the fine? This is the point of contention,” he said.
He further added that the enforcement might be embroiled with those caught.
“I believe any individual who will get angry with the fine of RM10,000. I am of the opinion that the fine is aimed at educating them but we must avoid suppressing their live as they are already in hardship,” he said.
