Police receives 36 reports on KK mart fracas

POLICE have received 36 reports about socks bearing the word “Allah” for sale at KK Mart convenience stores, says deputy home minister Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

He said police had opened an investigation paper.

“The investigation is under Section 298(A) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat.

Section 298(A) of the Penal Code refers to causing disharmony on the grounds of religion, while Section 233 of CMA 1998 cites misuse of network facilities to cause offence.

Umno Secretary-General Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has urged all quarters to refrain from questioning the bumiputera agenda as it will only cause the community to question the rights of others such as vernacular schools.

The Umno secretary-general said non-Malays should respect bumiputera sensitivities to maintain stability.

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Salleh yesterday demanded banners at all 881 of KK Super Mart’s outlets nationwide apologising over the controversial socks issue.

He said they will resort to more “drastic” action if such an apology is not forthcoming at all KK Mart outlets or from its vendor within the next two days.

Polis terima 36 aduan terhadap pasar raya KK

PIHAK polis setakat ini menerima 36 laporan terhadap pasar raya KK yang menjual sarung kaki yang tertera kalimah ‘Allah’, kata Timbalan Menteri Dalam Negeri, Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

Polis sudah pun membuka kertas siasatan mengenainya.

“Siasatan dibuat mengikut Seksyen 298(A) Kanun Keseksaan dan Seksyen 233 Akta Komunikasi dan Multimedia (CMA) 1998,” katanya di Dewan Rakyat, hari ini.

Sementara itu, Setiausaha Agung Umno Datuk Wira Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki meminta semua pihak agar jangan mencetuskan provokasi keagamaan.

Katanya, bukan Islam harus menghormati orang Melayu dan Bumiputera bagi menjamin keharmonian kaum.

Semalam, ketua Pemuda Umno, Dr Akmal Salleh menuntut agar semua 881 cawangan KK di seluruh negara memasang kain rentang ‘memohon maaf’ dalam tempoh dua hari atau menerima tindakan ‘drastik’.
