KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 – Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Vice-Presidents Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakub and Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin conveyed their New Year messages to party members and all Malaysians, hoping 2022 will be a better year for them.
In a FB posting, Zahid who is also Barisan Nasional Chairman called on the people to come together and stay united under BN for a better future.
He said, almost four years have passed since the country and its people underwent a harrowing time after May 9, 2018 with political instability, economic doldrums, deteriorating health and many unpleasant situation.
“Political instability has resulted in the country facing various social and administrative crises. The economic downturn caused so many people losing their jobs and businesses went bankrupt. The failure to manage the pandemic effectively from the beginning has seen more than 30,000 people lost their life,” he said.
The Bagan Datuk MP also hoped the country’s political and economic stability be restored soon as the main factors for prosperity and security.
In a televised speech, Vice-President Ismail Sabri who is also the prime minister said the year 2022 should augur well for all.
“After facing various challenges and struggling with Covid-19 pandemic as well as the flood disaster, we must build new hope for a better nation in 2022.”
Asking Malaysians to join him and the government, he said all parties should make a resolution to embrace the similarities and set aside the differences between them in order to continue the national development agenda.
“With the arrival of 2022, its will be a new chapter in our lives. I pray that the year 2022 will give new light to the Malaysian Family,” he said.
Another VP Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin called on all Malaysians to take advantage of the new year’s eve to exercise wisdom in life for the next 12 months.
“The year 2021 has been very challenging to us. Pandemics remain a public threat. The economy is still struggling. The politics of arm flexing is still the practice of some parties.
“In fact, when we close the curtain at the end of the year, big floods come as a test,” he said in a FB posting.
He said many are living on nightmare due to the disaster.
“In all these challenges and tests, we must remain strong as a society,” he said.
