UMNO hinted that it will not cooperate with PAS as long as Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is president of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) component party.
According to Sinar Harian, Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the decision was made based on previous experience working with the party.
According to him, many joint decisions made before between the two parties were betrayed by PAS.
“I am a living witness. In a face-to-face discussion with Hadi Awang we would come to an agreement. By the next day, he would change his mind”.
“Don’t trust them as long as that person is in power. We won’t cooperate with a party that leverages Islam,” he said in Kuala Kangsar, yesterday.
Meanwhile, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man also said today that his party will not from any cooperation with Umno as long as Zahid is its president.
“PAS also will not cooperate with them if Zahid is still there.
“We dont need them in the general election. Sungai Bakap by-election result gave the indication that they are nowhere,” he said today.
