UMNO deputy president Mohamad Hasan has cautioned against making Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh the sole target of enforcement over the upside-down flag incident in Penang, stressing that the law must be applied fairly to all involved.
“In this world, every action will have a reaction. We don’t want this matter to spiral out of control,” he said on Saturday.
Police are investigating Dr Akmal over a video posted on Facebook that is said to be hate content, says Penang police chief Comm Datuk Azizee Ismail.
In a statement on Friday (Aug 15), he said Bukit Mertjam police received a report on Aug 12, over a video going viral on Facebook under the account in the name of “Akmal Salleh”.
“In the video, Dr Akmal is said to have made a statement that could be categorised as ‘hate content’ which has the potential to cause unrest among the community and disrupt public peace,” he said.
Comm Azizee added that police have initiated an investigation under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 506 of the Penal Code.
