GRS doesn’t need us, says Zahid Hamidi

BARISAN Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said yesterday the coalition remains open to cooperating with other parties in the upcoming Sabah state election, except for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah or GRS.

Zahid said that under the “BN-Pakatan Harapan plus” approach, the coalition was willing to work with other parties to avoid multi-cornered contests, particularly in constituencies where BN has a strong chance of winning.

However, he made it clear that this openness did not extend to GRS.

“GRS has already expressed confidence that it can win many seats on its own. So, they don’t need us. We wish them well,” he said in Putrajaya.

Earlier this month, Zahid, who is the Umno president, said Sabah Umno had decided that it would not cooperate with GRS for the state election.
