Party election only after general election

UMNO is postponing the party’s election as it needs to remain united heading into the upcoming elections, says president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The deputy premier said the party needs to be better prepared for the possible Melaka state election and the 16th general election (GE16).

“The party must remain strong and united to contest as many seats as possible in any elections,” he said on Friday.

The Melaka and Johor state polls are most likely held this year, after their last state election held in November 2021 and March 2022, respectively.
