THE Umno Veterans Club has urged DAP to quit the coalition government without delay, instead of waiting for the outcome of its special national congress to decide on the matter in July.
The group’s secretary, Mustapha Yaakub, said they welcomed DAP’s move to reconsider its position in the government, but urged the party to act immediately.
DAP’s special congress is set for July 12, among which to discuss its role in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinet.
Its secretary-general Anthony Loke had on Friday said DAP was willing to call for a special congress to allow delegates to decide on the party’s future in the current government.
Anthony said the congress is an internal referendum for delegates to decide if their MPs withdraw from their executive position now, they will continue support for Anwar until the 16th general election.
