KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 – UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan today confirmed that UMNO Supreme Council has unanimously gave consent to the party President sending a letter to PPBM President of its decision not to cooperate with PPBM in GE-15, but will remain in Perikatan Nasional government until the Parliament is dissolved.
He said, it is clear that right from the very beginning UMNO has always adhered to the concept of honesty and sincerity in a political alliance.
“This decision was derived at after taking into account views of the grassroots and considering carefully the pros and cons of being in the Government when the people are facing the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said in a media statement.
Earlier, he explained that a special meeting between UMNO, PPBM and PAS represented by the top five leaders of each party was held on 15 February 2021.
“In the meeting, the Prime Minister and President of PPBM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has asked UMNO to make a clear stand on cooperating with PPBM before negotiation on seat allocation for GE15 can be held.
“For that purpose, the UMNO Supreme Council had deliberated it on Friday, February 19, 2021 to discuss the Prime Minister request,” he said.
