THE 2020 General Assembly was given a nod by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), the National Security Council (MKN) and the Police. Thanking all of you for making it possible.
For the first time in the history of UMNO’s 75th Anniversary, and in conjunction with its Diamond Jubilee, PAU has to be held face to face and by virtual.
And for the first time in the nation’s history, a new government took power without having the election process in February/March 2020. It was also the first seeing the country plagued with the invisible enemy, COVID-19. The emergency was also declared for no valid reason. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has recently decreed that Parliament can sit nothing was done to convene it.
For the very first time our politics is very unstable. This government is the most unstable in the whole world. The current leadership survives on the support of Members of Parliament (MPs) and with fear there are withdrawals from the coalition.
Dear delegates,
I would like to report that despite this difficult situation, UMNO’s new membership has increased by 127,214 people from 9 May 2018 to 26 March 2021. A total of 3,085 activities throughout the year 2020 were organized by Wanita in 191 divisions, 3,685 activities by Pemuda and 3,145 activities by Puteri. Congratulations.
‘UMNO Prihatin Rakyat, UMNO Bantu Rakyat, UMNO Juara Rakyat’ were our theme when the President asked 191 divisions to reach out COVID-19 and flood victims by giving more than 114 thousand food packages to them.
UMNO needs to prepare for the 15th General Election no matter when will it be held. Attention is usually given 3 years after the last general election, which is 9 May 2021, just a month and 11 days from now.
The Training Bureau under Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob; Investigative Bureau under Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid; Manifesto Committee under Dato’ Seri Khaled Nordin and the Director of Elections Dato’ Sri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, have all begun their work.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am pleased to report that the 2020 divisional conferences took place simultaneously on 1st-3rd January 2021 involving 190 divisions with 759 delegates. Thank God, no Covid-19 cluster took place even though tens of thousands of delegates attended it.
The support of grassroots members remains the strength of the party. In this regard, it is reported that the current number of UMNO members is 3,359,368 with 21,883 branches in 191 Divisions. This certainly certifies UMNO as still the largest political party in Malaysia.
States wise, the largest number of members are:
i. Sabah – 583,979, followed by
ii. Johor – 451,778
iii. Selangor – 421,899, and
iv. Kedah – 300,589
The divisions with the highest number of members are:
i. Lahad Datu, Sabah – 46,570
ii. Semporna, Sabah – 40,296
iii. Libaran, Sabah – 38,131
iv. Gombak, Selangor – 37,851, and
v. Baling, Kedah – 37,512
At the branch level, the highest are:
i. Kampung Batu Putih Darat, Libaran – 2, 779
ii. Kampung Tinosa Jaya, Libaran – 2,368
iii. Felda Air Tawar 2, Kota Tinggi – 1,432, and
iv. Felda Pemanis (1), Sekijang– 1,307
Importantly, the branches need more members and avoid party hopping, and we will claim back all the seats won by those who had abandoned the party.
Dear friends,
There are 20 UMNO clubs around the world, namely 9 in the United Kingdom, 2 in Indonesia, 3 in Australia, 4 in New Zealand and 2 in Egypt. This verifies that UMNO is presence all over the world.
There are also UMNO Malaysia Student Club (abbreviated as UMNOSiswa) in 17 IPTs in the country. UMNOSiswi was launched by the President yesterday during the Puteri UMNO conference. They are all potential successors to UMNO’s leadership in the future.
On 18 January 2020, we won the Kimanis Parliamentary by-election by a majority of 2029 votes. So as Chini by-election 12,650 votes and Slim by 10,945 votes on August 29, 2020.
In the Sabah PRN, we won from only 1 state seat in 2018 to 14 state seats. We could have won more, in fact. Winning the PRK and PRN is very important. But more importantly, UMNO/BN must win big in GE-15.
The victory in the PRK and PRN under the stewardship of the President also proves that Barisan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional are increasingly embraced by the people as a new political milestone. It is a big challenge for BN and MN to maintain the momentum of this victory.
Dear delegates,
UMNO members and leaders must be active on social media to dispel any fake news and produce more positive image of the party. The BNComms and PUMAS are becoming more prominent virtually. We must become active cyber-troopers as their service will be much needed in GE-15.
The efforts of 16 former UMNO members to have it dissolved by the court had failed. Thank God, Umno is still preserved. From this very moment, let us foster unity among us and resume what we have done in the past, that is serving the people by listening to their woes.
Clause 3 of the party’s Constitution envisaged clearly that “UMNO is a political party which upholds the ideals of Islam, Malays, Bumiputeras of Sabah and the Orang Asli, Solidarity, Prosperity and Stability of the country. ”
We fight for ABATA, Religion, Nation and Homeland. After this, together we follow and explore the President’s Policy speech, which certainly outlines the great direction of our struggle.

As the saying goes – If Plan A doesn’t work, don’t be disappointed. There are 25 more letters namely B to Z.
The General Assembly only needs ¼ quorum which is 25% of the delegation. Or 667 people… Of course we have it today. That is why we have Plan A representation in Dewan Merdeka, Plan B in Dewan Tun Hussein Onn and Dewan Tun Dr Ismail as well as Plan C in the states and divisions.
We hall overall 2668 delegates, 1110 of which is in PWTC (42 per cent) and 1558 or 58% at their respective state divisions.
