KUALA LUMPUR, Mac 12 – UMNO President Dtuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party will take a pro-active role as a check-and-balance agent for the new government to ensure that the interest of the people are really taken care of.
He said in a media statement, the party Supreme Council which met today made various recommendations to be instantly reviewed by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s Cabinet.
“The new government must quickly form a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to probe the wrongdoings and abuse of power by Pakatan Harapan government towards BN government and the previous Tabung Haji management,
“The government must also evaluate all decisions to sell strategic national assets and several agencies including Tabung Haji, Khazanah Nasional, LTAT and all GLCs.
“In meeting the actual Rule of Law concept, UMNO calls for all wrongdoing cases put to a halt by PH to be reopended, this includes corruption scandal in the undersea tunnel project and three highways valued at RM6.3 billion by DAP leaders,” he said.
Besides, the Supreme Council has suggested for a probe into the murder of a fireman Adib be held soon.
“UMNO has also pushed for the nullification of PH agenda to set up the IPCMC which is meant to belittle and mock the duty of Polis DiRaja Malaysia and freeze the decision to terminate contract workers in the civil sector, and re-look into their welfare.
“UMNO will resume in effort to strengthen the Muafakat Nasional with PAS and fortify cooperation in Barisan Nasional with MCA, MIC and PBRS.
“UMNO remains committed in defending the new government for as long as the people’s inspiration is well taken care of and in ensuring our political and economic stability are achieved until the next general election,” Zahid said.
