UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hopes that UMNO Youth will continue to be the party’s bulwark in the country’s political dynamics.
“There must be resilience, competitiveness and fighting force in defending the glory of the party. UMNO remains relevant at all times,” he said in a Facebook posting in conjunction with UMNO Youth 71st Anniversary.
For the record, UMNO Youth was established on 26 August 1949 led by Captain Hussien Onn. Zahid was also its chief from 1996 to 1998.
Meanwhile, former UMNO President Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak on the same social media platform also congratulated UMNO Youth on the 71st anniversary.
“For a long time, UMNO Youth has been one of our political frontliners. Always at the forefront of fighting for the national development agenda when BN and UMNO are at the helm of the country’s leadership.
“And in these two years when UMNO faced a difficult period with the government administration under PH (Pakatan Harapan), UMNO Youth remained loyal to the party and loudly raised issues facing the people. Without despair or tired,” he said. Najib was UMNO Youth Chief from 1987 to 1993.
He said great recognition, attention and support should be given to UMNO Youth.
“They are a generation that is proven to be authoritative and really able to contribute to this homeland,” he explained.
Similarly, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin hopes that the Youth will continue to be a talisman to all Youth in the struggle to defend and service the nation and the nation.
“My prayers always accompany,” he said who became the Youth Chief in 2008 to 2018.
