JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 26 – UMNO Malaysia Information Chief Shahril Hamdan called on all party members to actively promote the advantages and benefits of UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) who are more experienced in governing the country successfully.
He said that such efforts will not harm the party because with the result of hard work, the party will finally have a place in the hearts of the people.
“So, let’s strive in the name of BN. Promote leadership and introduced policies. All leaders were legally elected, so are the party assets. The moratorium, for instance, our President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was first to put it to attention.
“We do not ring our own bell. It does not bring any good but we must attend to it accordingly. We need to stand united. Our main objective is for the party to win again,” he added.
Shahril said this in a briefing session at the Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat Complex, here last night.
Also present were Johor Bahru UMNO Division Head Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad, Iskandar Puteri Division UMNO Chief Mohammad Khairi A. Malik and Pulai Division UMNO Deputy Chief Datuk Ramlee Bohani.
In the afternoon, Shahril who is also the Deputy Head of the Malaysian UMNO Youth Movement, also paid a courtesy call on Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Ir Hasni Mohammad as the Chairman of the state UMNO Liaison Body at the Menteri Besar’s official residence.
In the briefing session, Shahril also cited how the party are faced with many unusual situations after losing the 14th general election but is able to manage it.
“Allah Ta’ala tested us in 2020, we faced and manage it even though it was unusual. Not just 2020 but the previous year. Who would have thought that 31 months after losing the GE, the party that had liberated, developed the country, reduced the poverty rate, improved the economy had finally became the opposition, but we took it positively.
“Similarly, the things that happened after that and the collapse of a government that did not last a quarter of the term by itself, also happened in unusual circumstances.
“Together with other parties, UMNO is back to being part of the government. Hence, UMNO needs to be looked at objectively and rationally, based on the experience managing the country and making wise decisions for the party. – UMNO ONLINE
