KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 – Umno today officially launches a fund to help the Palestinians under distress over the Israelis assault.

Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the ‘Consensus Fund’ is chosen to symbolise the party’s and Malaysians solidarity for them.

“The Fund was open for contribution on Friday, May 21. Its account number is 8604750523 CIMB Islamic) under Umno – Tabung Muafakat Palestin.

“It is managed by the Umno Headquarters and we are responsible in handing out the donation for the benefit of the Palestinians,” he said in a statement, today.

He added that the president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Umno’s Management Committee agreed to the set up of the fund.

“The president said, ‘Together we contribute towards the struggle, welfare, education, development and solidarity of the Palestinians’. Please donate sincerely and affordably.

“Umno launched similar initiative in 2019 for its activities which include aiding the flood and natural disaster victims, and now assisting those affected by Covid-19 and others. The fund is Umno – Tabung Perjuangan 8603257266 (CIMB Islamic). My sincere gratitude for your contribution,” he said.
