Lockdown: Umno must continue serving the people

KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 – Vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob called on all grassroots leaders and the party machinery to reach out and listen to the people’s grievances, especially those affected by the lockdown.
The Senior Minister of Defense said Umno machinery at every level must be ready to serve, including channeling contributions to them.
“The full lockdown enforced by the government is aimed at curbing and containing the spread of Covid-1 epidemic plaguing the country.
“Cooperation of all parties is needed to comply with the SOP because we are the ones who determine the success of it. In these critical two weeks, I call on all Malaysians to abide by the SOPs that have been set and stay at home if there is no need to go out,” he said in a media statement today.
Ismail who is also Bera Member of Parliament said Umno upholds the tradition of looking after the welfare of the people, which is the core of the struggle, so that it remains relevant.
“The tradition of defending the rights of the people must always be strengthened during this pandemic. Umno must be the champion in defending the welfare of the people.
“However, in carrying out this responsibility, ensure that SOP compliance is always maintained and practice strict self-control,” he added.
It was reported that last Friday, the special committee of the National Security Council (MKN) on Covid-19 had decided to implement first phase of total lockdown on social and economic sectors nationwide for a period of 14 days starting June 1st. –  UMNO Online
