KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 – Umno’s official stand was clearly stated by President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday and all members and loyal supporters of the party regardless of their position, position and rank inside and outside the government, must abide by it.
According to Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Umno’s official stance is the party’s collective decision where it is in line with the General Assembly resolution and ratified by the Supreme Working Council on July 7.
He added that following the enlightenment from Istana Negara yesterday, the truth of the party’s stand became even stronger. The government has clearly turned its back on the Royal institution.
“The government’s response to Istana Negara’s statement last night has worsened the situation.
“The statement has pushed Malaysia into a serious constitutional crisis. The government’s attitude is clearly arrogant and immoral towards His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, “said the Barisan Nasional (BN) Deputy Chairman in a statement today.
He stressed that all Umno MPs must stay away from being dragged into a crisis between the government and the Palace.
“They cannot be in a position that can be interpreted as refuting the Palace’s remarks because it is an institution that Umno has pledged to uphold and defend,” he said.
Therefore, he called on the wisdom of all Umno MPs to do the right thing and in line with the party’s stand.
“No excuse to defend a government that has been seen to be clearly disobedient, reckless and failed in implementing the orders and advice of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in carrying out its responsibility to preserve, protect and defend the National Constitution.
“Loyalty to the Perikatan Nasional Government (PN) cannot surpass loyalty to the King, the country and the party.
“The choice of Umno elected representatives is clear unless they choose otherwise, at a time when the country and the people have lost all confidence in the PN Government,” he said.
