KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 – Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said as Umno Member of Parliament, any decisions on the latest political issues must uphold His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s command.
He, who is also the Member of Parliament for Pontian said this following allegations that he had rebelled against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“It is too easy for me to make a decision as party rep. I certainly uphold the commandment of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers and the Constitution.
“The Umno constitution and the decision of the Supreme Working Council (MKT) are used as a guide,” he said in a tweet via Twitter.
Ahmad had asked for the Parliament to reconvene since January.
“Some have accused me of treason. However, Tuanku Agong’s statement since February is clear, Parliament can sit even during an emergency.
“The correct decision on the issue of emergency and its ordinance need to be discussed and decided by the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara,” he added.
It was reported yesterday that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his sorrow with the statement in Parliament last Monday that the government had revoked all Emergency Ordinances even though it had not yet been approved by His Majesty.
