Extend moratorium, economy hasn’t recovered

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has received so many suggestion for an extended moratorium since the economy has yet to fully recover from the adverse impact of the Covid-1 pandemic.

It left many people with no job and no income to service their loan to the banking institution.

“Statictics provided by the Human Resources cited unemployment rate at 4.8 per cent in June, and this reason is realistic.

“Even many businesses are still crawling to get back to where they used to be.

“I’m afraid they will continue to be in financial difficulty should the existing moratorium ends,” he said in a FB posting.

The BN chairman also said although the economic sector is now opened, it is believed to take some times to recover.

“Maybe it is not the right time to end the moratorium. We need at least three months more,” he said.

“Maybe the government should consider it when Budget 2022 is table at the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 29.”
