TANGGA BATU, Oct 11 – The party machinery at all levels must get cracking to face Melaka state election (PRN), irrespective whether it will be held soon or later, said Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
He alerted that his visit to the state today was to observe such preparations.
“The Supreme Council will meet on October 14, which among its agendas is to discuss the PRN and other matters.
“The state liaison chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali will definitely inform the Council about the whole scenario,” he said in a media conference here on Sunday. Also present was Rauf.
Ahmad earlier held a discussion with the state election machinery at Baitul Tariq.
On the potential candidates, the Pontian MP said it has yet to be discussed at party level.
“We have not finalised it but as to whether the election will be held now or later, we must be ready. That is why I am here,” he said.
On the same matter, Rauf also said the list of candidate will be discussed with Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi after consent by all divisions in Melaka.
