KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 – Melaka State Barisan Nasional (BN) Election Director Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the party is risking 86 per cent of new candidates on the Nov 20 polling day.
Umno, he said will be represented by 20 candidates, seven MCA and one from MIC.
“BN will field 28 candidates in 28 state assemblies, 86 per cent are new faces and only four incumbents are retained. Previously, it was less than 50 per cent. Of those, 28 per cent are 45 years and below, five are women, four of them are from Umno and one is MCA.
“In the spirit of BN, I am pleased to inform that BN will go alone and will not be with any party and use its own logo which symbolizes the pluralism of a multiracial society,” he said at press conference here, today.
He said BN has chosen the motto ‘Stability for Prosperity’ in line with the party’s intention to ensure that the state achieves stability under the BN administration in the future.
“In accordance with the theme and in order to form a government that can manage well, we must provide prosperity to the people of Melaka,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also thanked the BN component parties for their good cooperation in the discussion on the selection of the candidate.
“I would like to thank my friends in BN for the concensus.”
