MELAKA, Nov 17 – Information chief Shahril Hamdan said the standard operation procedure set by the Election Commission (EC) for Melaka state election is the prelude to more new method of campaigning.

Although Umno is used to conventional methods of campaigning, this new procedure will be applied in the next general election.

“I believe we must apply new methods and do away with the traditional ones.

“So, we have to apply our creativity in reaching out to the voters. The social media platforms are one of them. We also use trucks in our campaigning,” he said.

Yesterday, Shahril spent time campaigning of a four-wheel vehicle in Telok Mas state constituency. He is optimistic that the new method is more suitable to carry the message across as it is more relaxing.
