Don’t go overboard in making comments

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 – Information Chief Shahril Hamdan chided Datuk Seri Hadi Awang’s comment on Umno, describing it as inappropriate and overboard.
He said without losing any respect for the PAS President, Hadi should have not made unnecessary statements on Umno’s internal matter.
“Just as it is not appropriate for me to teach PAS about the internal affairs of the party, I hope their leadership also respects the decorum in the relationship between the parties and refrains from making comments on behalf of Umno.
“Whether the majority of our Supreme Council (MKT) members support any issue or not is our internal secret… outsiders should not interfere with it.
“Just like any other organisation, we have our own structure and a decision-making body,” he said.
He also said Umno has never abandoned Muafakat Nasional (MN) and even its General Assembly 2020 has reaffirmed the desire to strengthen the political cooperation.
“It’s just that it needs to be coordinated with another official stand that Umno rejects cooperating with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in the 15th General Election (GE-15).
“So, when PAS insists on continuing the pact with Perikatan Nasional, it is placing Umno in a very difficult situation when our wish is to strengthen its ties with PAS. We even offered them to contest using their symbol in Melaka but they refused and insisted that we accept PPBM.
“Well, that;s their stand.”
Shahril added that what’s important is Umno respects the stand of PAS and will not force it into anything.
