KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 – Umno Sabah celebrates its 31st anniversary on February 22.

Youth Chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki recalled it with a video recorded on the same day last year.

The 25 Youth Leaders in Sabah had pledged to defend the party after a large group of party leaders led by former Sabah Umno Chairman Datuk Hajiji (now Chief Minister) and 22 of the 25 division heads jumped to PPBM after GE-14.

“Still fresh in memory. I had to go to Kota Kinabalu several times to convince the Youth to remain loyal no matter what happens, even if I have to be the last batch to fly the Umno Sabah flag,” he said in a FB posting.

Asyraf said he cannot forget that moment.

“The words of the late Beluran Youth Chief Mohd Fazli Zikiri to me at that time, ‘Don’t worry Doctor, I and my friends will definitely defend this party even if we are the last people to fly the party flag in Sabah’. May God bless him.”
