JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 25 – Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan has requested the Election Commission (EC) to re-consider the SOP in limiting the campaigning until 10PM.

The party Secretary-General said the EC should add it an hour until 11PM after taking into consideration some aspects of it.

 

“Add another hour until 11PM because the Isya prayer ends at 9, and it will make it insufficient for two speakers to deliver their speech when the event will only start at 9.30. This means they have only 15 minutes each.

“In that manner, its not practical since the campaigning period which ended at 12PM previously was shortened to 11PM,” said the Pontian MP.

Hoping the EC will also relax its regulation for campaigning at open premises, having it indoor at party’s operation center with the attendance of 100 people and less is not accordance.

“Where to find indoor space to accommodate 100 people when are not allowed to use community hall? I want to propose the hall be used with permission from its committee.”

“If that is not allowed, let us campaign in open space. Hope the EC can consider this,” he said.
