EGM set for May 14 to discuss party election

KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 14 – Umno will hold its extraordinary general meeting on May 14 (Saturday) to look into the constitution over the party election, says Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The EGM is in line with the decision reached at the recent General Assembly.

“To implement it, a special EGM will be held on May 14 to look into the amendment of the constitution. An Umno Day and Aidilfitri celebration will also be held,” he said after in a media statement after the party Supreme Council meeting chaired by president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Menara Dato Onn.

Also discussed was the Anti-Hopping Act.

“The Act must be supported and approved (by the Parliament) without any compromise, and we hope no party will try to halt and derail it.

“Umno is of the opinion that the Act must be speed up as a manifest to secure and respect the voters,” he said.
