BAGAN DATUK, May 8 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Umno respects the decisions by its Supreme Council, the Pas’ Syura Council and also the Islamic party central committee.
He said Umno wants to maintain the unity of the ummah but the other party is showing an immature attitude in politics.
“That is Pas view from the beginning when they were with us but (lately) they have shown a two-sided attitude and do not take into account the maturity of politics as one organisation. They changed overnight.
“Umno wants a loyal friend, and loyalty is not just words but actions and decisions. It is good that we respect each other’s decisions.
“We do not want satire in relations,” he said at the Hari Raya celebration here, today.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bagan Datuk, also Umno will move forward on its own.
“I think that is the best because Umno has tried all it can to keep the unification.
He also said that Umno celebrates differences of opinion and does not take a harsh stance against those who violated the party’s constitution.
“I think if the disciplinary board wants to take action, not only him (Razali Hamzah) but many other former leaders whether they are Members of Parliament or outside the leadership of the Supreme Council. We do not resort to harsh action.
“The board always uses its discretion.”
