KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 – Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan congratulates the Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad for setting up a Student Subsistence Action Committee to help them.
In his Twitter page, the Pontian MP lauded this effort as proactive and creative in dealing with the rising cost of living.
“Thank you, there are three other universities offering menus as low as RM3.50. Creative efforts that are able to help students. Let’s work with the people to solve the problems immediately,” he said.
The Malaysian Family Student Subsistence Action Committee was established by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) on the basis of the ministry’s concern in supporting and strengthening governance and the efficiency of the distribution of welfare assistance to students in Higher Education Institutions (IPT).
Among the efforts introduced by this committee are the exemption of rent for six months to cafeteria operators, the Malaysian Family Student Food Basket initiative, the empowerment of the Student Food Bank initiative, the coordination of Job on Campus Program (JoC) wage rates at the IPT level, Development of Subsistence Action Plan Students, rebates or tax exemptions as well as regular transportation movement schedules.
