UMNO always uphold Islam as the official religion as stipulated in the Federal Constitution, says its information chief Azalina Othman Said.

This includes the use of phrase ‘Allah’ by any other religions.

“The matter will be raised at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow. Umno ministers will ensure they discuss it,” she says in a FB posting.

The media had earlier reported that the government and the Home Ministry had withdrawn the appeal at the High Court for the Christians to use ‘Allah’, Baitullah and Kaabah in their sermon.

The judiciary notice was filed by the General-Attorney office at the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya on April 18.

The decision has caused an uproar and dissatisfaction among Muslims in the country.
