UMNO Supreme Council member Isham Jalil has been sacked from the party.
In a brief message, Umno Supreme Council member Ahmad Maslan confirmed to Malay Mail that Isham had been given his marching orders.
Isham meanwhile told FMT that he was removed from the Umno Supreme Council’s WhatsApp group last night, but remained in the dark regarding his membership in the party.
The former Umno information chief said he had yet to receive any letter from the party on his sacking.
Isham was elected as an Umno Supreme Council member during the party’s elections in March.
Previously a strong supporter of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, he has been critical of him and the party’s cooperation with DAP since the outcome of the six state elections in August.
In September, he went as far as to challenge Zahid to sack him over his criticism of Umno’s relationship with DAP and Pakatan Harapan.
