PERAK Umno is prepared to face any by-elections resulting from amendments to Bersatu’s constitution, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The Mentri Besar said the party is always prepared in the event of a by-election being called.

“If there aren’t any, there will be no problems and we will prepare for the next general election,” he told a press conference after presenting Hari Raya goodies to uniformed units and other agencies at the State Secretariat building in Ipoh on Wednesday (April 3).

He had been asked if Umno was prepared to face by-elections following the approval of amendments to Bersatu’s constitution to revoke the membership of elected representatives who go against the party’s stand.

The Registrar of Societies (ROS) recently approved the amendments, which came into effect on Monday (April 1).

On March 11, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and party secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin submitted the amendments to RoS after they were approved at a special general assembly on March 2.
