Jan 6: PAS urges members to support Umno

PAS has urged its members to come out in solidarity with Umno on Jan 6, when the Court of Appeal will hear an application regarding an alleged royal addendum to place Datuk Seri Najib Razak under house arrest.

Sinar Harian reported on the party’s internal memo, which has gone viral on social media, where PAS called on its members to join the “Solidarity With Najib Razak” rally.

An Umno grassroots leader has also urged party leaders and members to attend said solidarity rally for the former prime minister on Jan 6.

The “red shirts” solidarity gathering is scheduled to take place outside the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya at 8am on Jan 6.

Federal Territories Umno Information Chief Gulam Muszaffar said Jan 6 is a significant date for the incarcerated former prime minister, his family, and the party, as it will address speculations about the existence of the alleged royal addendum.

“People are waiting with hope. What is the story of the royal addendum?” he said in a note.

“For me, as an Umno member, this struggle is not solely that of Bossku and his family but also ours, as he was our former top leader and we should stand with him by providing moral support.”

“Are we going to distance ourselves, turn a blind eye, or keep quiet on Bossku’s struggles?

“Are we ready to give our enemy space to claim credit for something we had started together?” he added.

Gulam emphasized the importance for Supreme Council leaders, division chiefs, grassroots leaders, and members to show their moral support for Najib by attending the rally.

“This is enough to show that Umno is still continuing its crusade,” he said.

He noted that the trait of true friendship is standing by one’s friend even when they have nothing to offer.

On Dec 5, Najib filed an application for leave to adduce additional evidence in his appeal to support his claim of a royal addendum allowing the remainder of his six-year prison sentence to be served under house arrest.
