THE Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto unveiled earlier this month for the 17th Sabah General Election (PRN17) has garnered encouraging feedback from the public, with particular appeal among younger voters and across various segments of the local community, according to Datuk Suhaimi Nasir, UMNO Sabah’s Information Chief.
Speaking in his capacity as the BN candidate for DUN Sungai Sibuga, Suhaimi said the early response suggests that voters view the coalition’s proposals as realistic and deliverable if BN is entrusted with governance.
“Alhamdulillah, we launched our manifesto on the 22nd of this month, and based on developments over the past few days, the BN manifesto has been well received by the people of Sabah,” he told UMNO-Online.
He highlighted that initiatives aimed at young people were among the most compelling aspects of the manifesto.
“For the youth, our manifesto is particularly favourable. Proposals relating to education, scholarships, book vouchers, and student assistance cards clearly demonstrate that the Barisan Nasional Government prioritises the people, compared with the manifestos of other parties,” he said.
Beyond education and human capital development, the BN manifesto also addresses long-standing basic infrastructure issues, including water supply, electricity, and road improvements, presenting these commitments as part of a clear strategy to rectify deficiencies under the previous administration.
“Another key aspect is the improvement of essential infrastructure covering water, electricity, and roads. All of this has been clearly outlined in the manifesto as part of our commitment to addressing the shortcomings of the previous government,” he explained.
Suhaimi expressed confidence that the pledges could be implemented effectively with careful planning once the mandate is granted by the electorate.
“I am confident that these initiatives can be realised. Insya Allah, if entrusted by the people to govern the state, we will organise the best possible planning to ensure that the entire BN manifesto is fully implemented for the benefit of the people of Sabah,” he added.
The BN manifesto emphasises youth welfare, educational opportunities, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment, forming the cornerstone of the coalition’s vision for a more progressive and prosperous Sabah.
