A CRYPTIC post by Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan has sparked a fresh round of tit-for-tat shots between Umno and Dap supporters.
In a Facebook post, Mohamad said he was looking forward to “celebrating” the High Court’s “officiating” of the Penang tunnel sometime in 2026.
However, he did not elaborate further.
The post by Mohamad, commonly known as Tok Mat, drew comments on Umno and DAP’s ties, with some supporters suggesting the party severe ties with the Pakatan Harapan component.
Mohamad’s cryptic post comes amid the unhappiness of some Umno leaders over comments made by several DAP leaders about former prime minister Najib Razak’s failed bid for house arrest.
Yesterday, DAP publicity secretary Yeo Bee Yin said the High Court’s decision in former Umno president Najib’s case was a cause for celebration.
The post drew condemnation from Umno leaders and even those in the opposition.
Among those who criticised the move were BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir and Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reminded the public to observe decorum following the court’s ruling on Najib’s case.
He said that while some may choose not to express sympathy towards Najib and his family, it would be inappropriate to escalate tensions or worsen the situation during this sensitive period.
