KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 – UMNO members are urged to always close the ranks under the party’s slogan of ‘Bersatu, Bersetia, Berkhidmat’

According to UMNO Veteran Secretary-General Datuk Mustapha Yaakub he is concern over the spat of open view through social and print media involving a handful of party leaders.

“Veterans do not deny that as a large party with more than 3 million members with 191 divisions and thousands of branches, it is not easy to unite their way of thinking. Veterans also understand that differences of opinion are common in UMNO.

“However, the differences of opinion must be in the correct manner and in accordance with the provisions in the UMNO Constitution and ethics.

“Any differences of opinion should be discussed and presented through the correct and prudent channel. It should not be posted on social media openly, “he told UMNO Online.

He explained that UMNO members expect a strong unity because they are aware that this party needs to continue its struggle for the people.

“UMNO members at all levels need to continue remembering how UMNO and Barisan Nasional lost in the last 14th General Election (GE). Now we must continue to strive for the party in preparatiing for the 15th GE, “he added.
