Impose MCO strictly to contain pandemic

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 – Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urges the authority to fully impose the Movement Control Order (MCO) effectively as a solution to contain the Covid-19 pandemic which will prolong the people’s problem being restricted for cross-border and cross-district activities.

“The full MCO 3.0 was enforced from May 12 till June 7 but I received complaint few days ago about difficulty faced by those living in Sepang, Selangor and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan. They claimed of not even allowed to go to the nearest places as both areas are just next to next without police permit,” he said.

It is normal for those in Sepang to shop for daily goods in Bandar Baru Nilai since the distance between the two areas is just a few kilometres but the border between the two states gives them such problems.

“I hope the government will look into this and give them with some leniencies as long as they dont travel exceeding 10 kilometres.

“I am also drawn to a media report recently how two siblings couldn’t celebrate Hari Raya since they are separated by the states’ border. One of them lives in Sungai Merab, Sepang while the other in Nilai. The distance is just two minutes. Its so close.”

“Oleh itu saya berharap kerajaan memikirkan semula masalah ini dengan mereka yang tinggal di sempadan diberi pelesapan asalkan tidak melebihi jarak 10 kilometer.

However, he said it cannot be done because the border separates them.

“They had to oblige to the rule and they were satisfied to exchange Raya cookies at the border roadblock, thanks to the police,” he said.
