Vaccination progress is encouraging – Zahida

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 – Puteri hopes the positive rate of vaccination will be a new sign for the country to achieve a herd immunity.
Its head Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan was optimistic when the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program (PICK) which was introduced on February 23 continued to record encouraging numbers at 400,000 injections per day.
“It brings about high hope as it is handled by ministers from Umno such as Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Khairy Jamaluddin and Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba. The 400,000 figure is one of the highest in the world! Congratulations to those who worked hard to make it a success,” she said in a FB posting.
Zahida said this is because there were only two ways to curb the pandemic, namely through comprehensive contagion prevention and vaccination.
“It is now clear that the second option is showing good progress. Once again, congratulations to those involved.
“This Covid-19 has no previous history as a guide and it caused many hiccups. We stumbled and fell but the important thing is that we rise again and correct it. This is very important for a long struggle,” she said.
The people, she added need to be prepared because the pandemic is expected to stay much longer.
“We must be prepared to live with it. I pray for perseverance and determination of all frontliners.”
