KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the nation has to pay a heavy price when the government changed on May 8, 2018.
The party president and BN chairman said it brought about negative impact on the economy, political stability and people’s integration.
“The Dewan Rakyat was told that 15,537 business premises had to close down between 2020 and August 2021. We do understand it was caused by the pandemic but it was beyond comprehension to note that it also happened before the Covid-19 plagued the nation.
This means that the business environment before pandemic was already shrinking compared with 2017 and before GE14 when it snowballed to RM1.3 billion.
The Bagan Datuk MP was referring to a Bank Negara report which shows the economy chalked a growth of 5.9 per cent in 2017.
“Unfortunately it shrunk to 4.7 per cent in 2018.
“That is why we always believe that the BN administration is the best for Malaysia. We will ensure that in the 15th general election.”
