KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 – Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi lauds Sabah Umno for having its own strength to help steer the party since the 14th general election defeat.

He said the party leadership should take the cue from them in beefing up Umno’s position nationwide.

 

“Sabah Umno has a high self esteem in their politics… it should trigger others to learn from them to shape the party in preparing for the future.

“(After 2018 defeat) 22 out of 25 division heads resigned and dissolved Umno but Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and two others are the ones who make Umno still relevant in Sabah.

“They even come out stronger with a new leadership that led to the existing game changer. When we won 14 state seats in the state election, it means we are actually capable of securing more had not for the political game by another party,” he said in a meeting with Sabah Umno led by Bung. Also present were his deputy Datuk Yakub Khan and other state party leaders.

However, the BN chairman also said what happened was a paradigm shift for Sabah Umno to gain momentum in the next election.

“I reminded Bung that the political trick is gone and I am convinced they can wrest the state in the next general and state elections.

“As long as we are on the same turf, we are destined to be victorious.”
