Put a stop to party-hopping – Mahdzir Khalid

PADANG TERAP, Apr 10 – The issue of party-hopping among elected representatives  will be resolved with the introduction of the Anti-Party Hopping Bill (RUU).
Vice-president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, however, said that before it comes into force, amendment to the Constitutional has to be done first.
“Taking cue from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, it means we will table the amendment to the Constitution first, and if Parliament convenes in July, we can table the new Bill,” he said this at a press conference after the Iftar and Tarawih with FELCRA Padang Terap staff here, yesterday.
The tabling and debate of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2022 involves the enactment of the source of authority under Article 10 of the Federal Constitution.
