MACC, AGC must explain, says Ahmad Maslan

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that the investigation into the case involving Court of Appeal Judge Datuk Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali has been completed and handed over to the Attorney General’s Chamber for further action on 18 May.
Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said in a media statement that a document claimed to be the investigation paper was leaked and has gone viral.
“Given that the Federal Court Judges have rejected Datuk Seri Najib’s application to present new evidence, Umno is of the view that the MACC needs to confirm or deny the validity of the investigation document.
“In addition, the Attorney General’s Chamber also needs to announce if there will be further action on the investigation paper since it has been in the office for the past three months,” he said.
The Pontian MP added that the integrity of an institution needs to be protected and he also hopes that the MACC and the AGC will come forward to give an explanation to the people.
“The integrity of the institution we respect needs to be protected. Umno sincerely hopes that the MACC and the Attorney General’s Department will explain to the people about this issue,” he said.
