THE General Assembly has unanimously approved a motion to amend its constitution to provide for the revocation of membership of elected public officeholders who joined other coalitions or parties.
The amendment was done in line with the Federal Constitution’s anti-party hopping clause (amendment Act [No.3] 2022 [Act A1663]) which came into effect in October last year.
The motion under clause 20.11 of the Umno constitution received unanimous backing from the delegates of the party’s 2022 Extraordinary General Meeting at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur here today.
Another motion approved by the delegates was clause 8.4 of the party constitution, which provided for the inclusion of division information chiefs and respective wings’ information chiefs to be appointed as permanent delegates for the general assembly.
