UMNO has denied claims the party has been sidelined by the unity government, citing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to its headquarters at Menara Dato Onn.
Its secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said all parties in the unity government also agreed that Umno’s headquarters would double up as the administration’s “management centre”, Astro Awani reported.
“And the prime minister recently came to Menara Dato’ Onn after 25 years to attend the meeting on matters related to the unity government.
“Therefore I can’t understand the claim that Umno is being sidelined,” he was quoted as commenting to former PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob claim that Umno leaders are being treated like Oppositions.
