No need for DAP apology, says Zahid Hamidi

UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed calls for its new coalition government ally DAP to apologise for allegedly spewing accusations towards his party.

This comes after newly-elected Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh called on DAP to issue a public apology to the Malay nationalist party over condemnations made when the parties were foes in politics.

However, a defiant Youth Chief Dr Akmal Salleh demanded DAP to still apologise for making allegations against the party in the past.

“If DAP wants to soothe the feelings of Umno members and are sincere in forging friendships, we ask them to retract their previous allegations against us,” he said.

Meanwhile, DAP central executive committee member Ronnie Liu has urged Umno to forget about the past and work together for the sake of the country.

“Let bygones be bygones. Now that we are both partners in the unity government, there must be unity among the party leaders and grassroots,” he said.
