UMNO president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi met the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Christopher Luxon who began his 3-day official visit to Malaysia beginning today.
“Immediately after meeting our Prime Minister (Anwar Ibrahim) and staff of the Prime Minister Department, I hurried up to the official welcoming ceremony at Dataran Perdana, Putrajaya this morning,” he said in a FB posting.
“The NZ premier is on an official three-day working visit to Malaysia, and among top agenda to be discussed is how to elevate our two-way relation.”
Zahid who is Deputy Prime Minister also expressed hope for the visit to open more doors to mutual cooperation between the two nations.
Last year, New Zealand was Malaysia’s 28th trading partner, being the 22nd and 27 export and import destination respectively in the Oceania.
Trade between the two countries stood at RM11.56 billion (USD2.54 billion).
