KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 – Information Chief Shahril Hamdan slammed the DAP leadership for hurling wild accusations at Barisan Nasional (BN) over some development projects in Penang, when the coalition had actually spent RM24.75 billion for the state between 1981 and 2018.
This includes RM4.5 billion for the second bridge in 2009 even though BN no longer controlled the state government, he said in a short video on ‘Sambung Yang Tergendala’.
He said BN did not cancel the RM2 billion loan guarantee for Penang LRT project, instead it was done under the Perikatan Nasional government.
“The RM100 million Penang cable car project was also canceled by the PN government and not BN. Had it was canceled in May 2020, the middle man will have a hard time with COVID, so it seems that the cable car can be postponed first.
“The Penang South Islands project is a seawall project that will affect the environment and fishermen. As long as the DAP state government cannot convince the Department of Environment, then this project will be on hold. Is it BN’s fault?
“The expansion of Penang airport was approved by BN in 2018 (before GE-14) but later was postponed due to COVID. It affected others too, and not merely the state.”
Shahril also said DAP is actually worried about BN’s uprising in the state, and had to tarnish it’s reputation with many lies and wild accusations.
