SULAIMAN Md Ali has resigned as the Melaka Chief Minister.
Confirming this, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said in Bentong yesterday than Sulaiman who is Lendu State Assemblyman has tendered in his resignation letter when meeting him at the Parliament on Tuesday.
Zahid said he will have an audience with the Yang Dipertua Negeri Mohd Ali Rustam soon to suggest the potential candidate teo replace Sulaiman. However, he did not say when the meeting will take place.
As to whether Melaka Umno Liasion chairman Rauf Yusoh will be appointed as the new CM, Ahmad Zahid said: “I cannot comment. Just wait for the state government’s announcement.”
