DEPUTY Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Umno and Barisan Nasional only need loyal members with them.

The Umno president added that having party loyalists will ensure no more internal bickering that can only weaken the party.

Speaking at Dataran Merdeka on Sunday, he said members and leaders should be able to work closely in charting the future of the party.

On rumours that MCA and MIC might join Perikatan Nasional, Zahid said both will remain with BN forever.

He also commented on criticism against DAP’s Lim Guan Eng.

“It was merely a character assassination.”
