FORMER Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin made his first appearance at the Umno General Assembly since 2023 today.

Dressed in a white baju Melayu, red sampin and songkok, Khairy is attending the Umno Youth Wing General Assembly at the invitation of the current Youth chief, Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

He arrived at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur alongside Akmal, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz and several other former Youth chiefs.

Their arrival was marked by a brief welcoming ceremony, featuring the beating of gendang and a short silat performance.

This will be his first general asembly appearance since he was sacked from the party in 2023.

Last October, a source revealed that Khairy was expected to rejoin Umno ahead of the Sabah election in November.

It was revealed that Khairy’s return had the blessing of party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The source said Zahid gave his blessing to Khairy in person when they attended Perlis Umno chief Datuk Razabil Abdul Rahman’s daughter’s wedding.

Three days after the report, Khairy broke his silence, urging the media to give him a couple of weeks to respond.

He has yet to officially confirm his return.
