Menurut beliau perhimpunan kali ini sesuatu yang unik kerana perwakilan bukan sahaja akan berada di Dewan Merdeka, PWTC, di sini serta Dewan Tun Hussein Onn dan juga Tun Dr Ismail, malah akan berada di seluruh negara melibatkan 190 bahagian.

UMNO-Online – Terima kasih Datuk Seri kerana meluangkan masa untuk diwawancara bersama UMNO-Online. Perhimpunan Agung UMNO 2020 kali ini berbeza dengan tahun-tahun sebelumnya kerana diadakan dalam tempoh Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan Bersyarat (PKPB). Bagaimana persediaan Ibu Pejabat UMNO untuk berdepan dan mengendalikan persidangan ini.

(SUA) – Alhamdulillah syukur kerana Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) dan juga pihak Polis telah meluluskan untuk kita mengadakan perhimpunan agung pada 27 dan 28 mac. Ini adalah dua kelulusan yang ditunggu-tunggu dan dengan lain perkataan tidak ada halangan untuk kita melaksanakan walaupun dalam keadaan PKPB di Wilayah Persekutuan.

Apa pun kita akan mengikut segala SOP (prosedur operasi standard) dan ini akan menjadi satu sejarah yang tersendiri selama UMNO berumur 75 tahun kita mengadakan perhimpunan agung dengan dua kaedah kombinasi secara bersemuka dan juga secara maya.

Bersemuka di Dewan merdeka PWTC dan kita juga adakan di Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, satu lagi di Dewan Tun Dr Ismail dan sementara itu 190 bahagian seluruh negara masing-masing dan perwakilan yang tidak ke Kuala Lumpur berada di bahagian dan ini kita adakan secara Facebook Live dan sebagainya.

Kita juga adakan di 190 UMNO bahagian di lokasi masing-masing dan mereka akan menunggu dengan perwakilan yang ada bersama AJK (ahli jawatankuasa) bahagian sama ada pada Sabtu (27 Mac) Wanita, Pemuda dan Puteri dan pada Ahad (28 Mac) AJK bahagian bersama perwakilan berada di bahagian masing-masing. Ini adalah sesuatu yang unik dan tidak pernah berlaku dalam sejarah PAU selama 75 tahun.

(UMNO-Online) – Perhimpunan Agung UMNO kali ini jadi perhatian bukan sahaja di kalangan ahli parti tetapi juga parti lain. Bagaimana Datuk Seri melihat ‘mood’ di pihak kepimpinan parti dan akar umbi itu sendiri.

(SUA) – Ini menjadi satu tumpuan kerana kita telah membuat dua keputusan penting dari segi politik. Keputusan itu adalah 124 usul daripada bahagian dan ianya adalah 65 peratus daripada 190 bahagian yang mengadakan mesyuarat kecuali UMNO bahagian Tanah Merah. Usul itu adalah tidak bekerjasama dengan PPBM pada PRU-15 (Pilihan Raya Umum ke-15). Kita ada lagi satu iaitu menamatkan sokongan kepada Perikatan Nasional (PN) apabila parlimen dibubarkan.

Jadi oleh kerana ada dua perkara penting dari segi politik ini PAU kita pada kali ini menjadi tumpuan oleh ramai pihak sebab ianya akan mewarnai corak politik negara beberapa bulan yang akan datang. Saya berharap agar suasana kita terkawal kerana kita memberikan kebebasan kepada jurucakap di Wanita, Pemuda dan Puteri termasuklah PAU pada hari Ahad. Usul-usul ini juga tentunya mengenai ucapan dasar Ketua Pemuda, Ketua Wanita, Ketua Puteri dan Presiden UMNO.

Pastinya mereka akan menyentuh hal-hal berhubung kait tentang politik, hal-hal ekonomi, hal-hal sosial, hal-hal agama, pendidikan, antarabangsa dan juga isu-isu semasa mengenai COVID-19, kesukaran yang dihadapi rakyat apabila kita setahun lebih berdepan peperangan menghadapi COVID-19 ini.

(UMNO-Online) – UMNO dilihat sentiasa berdepan cabaran sejurus Pilihan Raya Umum ke-14. Bagaimana Datuk Seri melihat serta menilai tahap solidariti ahli ketika ini.

(SUA) – Banyak tempat saya sebutkan jika presiden dan timbalannya tidak berbalah maka parti itu akan kekal kukuh. Kita melihat dalam sejarah politik negara apabila Tun Dr Mahathir dan Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tidak ada persefahaman, maka parti kita pecah. Anwar menubuhkan PKR dan kemudiannya apabila Anwar dan timbalannya tidak sehaluan maka Datuk Seri Azmin Ali keluar dan masuk PPBM bersama yang lain.

Pas juga sama apabila presiden dan timbalannya tidak sehaluan maka timbalannya, Mohamad Sabu menubuhkan Parti Amanah Negara. Jadi pada pandangan sayalah selagi nombor satu dan nombor dua dalam parti kukuh bersama inilah yang berlaku pada ketika dan saat ini. Kita tidak nafi ada macam-macam gelombang di luar tetapi presiden dan timbalan kukuh bersama…saya kira kita akan menghadapi apa juga badai yang mendatang.

(UMNO-Online) – Sebut tentang badai dan cabaran, Bagaimana Datuk Seri melihat keadaan sekarang ini sebagai lontaran kepada ahli UMNO khususnya.

(SUA) – Apa-apa juga yang diputuskan oleh MKT (Majlis Kerja Tertinggi) UMNO dibuat secara demokratik oleh presiden. Saya sentiasa berada dalam mesyuarat-mesyuarat besar ini dan presiden memulakan apa yang dipanggil Biro Politik yang mana ianya dihadiri oleh jawatankuasa pengurusan bersama 13 pengerusi perhubungan negeri.

Selalunya diadakan sebelum mesyuarat MKT berbincang merumuskan perkara-perkara kemudiannya pada mesyuarat MKT dan presiden mendengar lagi ahli MKT yang lain menyatakan perkara-perkara dan Biro Politik juga boleh menyatakan lagi sekali di dalam MKT dan akhirnya presiden akan merumus segala perbincangan dalam mesyuarat MKT untuk dipersetujui oleh ahli MKT.

Ini perkara dan kaedah presiden membuat keputusan apabila dua keputusan utama sebelum ini dibuat di ILMU Janda Baik sebagai satu contoh yang penting. Tidak ada seorang pun yang membantah pada ketika itu dan apa yang diputuskan merupakan satu suara majoriti yang tidak perlu dipertikaikan di luar.

Tetapi apabila ada satu dua pertikaian ingin melihat parti kita seolah-olah tidak solid sebenarnya kita telah melakukan satu perkara yang cukup demokratik apabila membuat keputusan.

(UMNO-Online) – Perhimpunan kali ini juga boleh dikatakan sebagai persediaan parti untuk menjurus ke arah PRU akan datang. Sejauh mana Datuk Seri melihat perkara ini.

(SUA) – Ya, kita kena bersiap untuk menghadapi PRU-15. Daripada kenyataan-kenyataan oleh pihak kerajaan, kita boleh merumuskan tarikh-tarikh yang tertentu. Apa pun pada pandangan kita PRU-15 akan kita hadapi lambat-laun. Oleh itu apabila telah sampai hampir tiga tahun satu-satu penggal dan 9 Mei ini genap tiga tahun keempat dan kelima dalam mana-mana juga penggal ianya adalah merupakan persiapan pilihan raya.

Apabila menjejaki sahaja selepas tahun ketiga kita mesti menyiapkan diri menghadapi pilihan raya dan oleh itu pada saya, perhimpunan agung pada kali ini ialah perhimpunan sebelum PRU-15 yang kita boleh jangkakan tarikhnya tidaklah terlalu lama lagi. Oleh itu adalah penting untuk kita sama-sama menguatkan parti kerana kita ingin UMNO menang sebeberapa banyak kerusi yang kita tandingi dan ini yang kita harapkan.

(UMNO-Online) – Apa yang Datuk Seri mahu gambarkan UMNO pada mata rakyat.

(SUA) – Ketika COVID-19 dah setahun ini, ada beberapa siri kita memberikan bantuan rakyat di sleuruh bahagian dan perkara pertama yang penting untuk kita gambarkan ialah keprihatinan kita kepada rakyat. Itu membela nasib rakyat, membantu rakyat, menjadi juara rakyat dan itu memang harapan kita selama-lamanya dan kita memahami denyut nadi rakyat. Kita menyuarakan suara rakyat dan suara sebegitu. Saya ingin ulang. Prihatin rakyat, bela rakyat, bantu rakyat seterusnya kita suarakan suara rakyat dan ini adalah perkara-perkara yang telah kita laksanakan sebelum-sebelum ini.

Dulu kita dengar bahawa rakyat didahulukan, pencapaian diutamakan. Keutamaan kita adalah rakyat dalam apa juga keadaan dan ini akan kita teruskan. Rakyat adalah insan nombor satu dalam perjuangan kita. Kita ingin rakyat yang susah dibantu, kita ingin rakyat yang bersuara kita hebahkan dan kita pastikan suara yang benar itu dapat sampai ke telinga pelbagai pembuat dasar.

Ini perjuangan kita daripada dulu, kini dan selamanya. Tambah-tambah lagi apabila kita telah meminda Perlembagaan ke arah satu Perlembagaan yang lebih baik dan kita akan edar pada PAU ini, Perlembagaan baru yang dipinda dan dipersetujui oleh RoS (Jabatan Pendaftaran Pertubuhan).

Mudah-mudahan dengan adanya Perlembagaan baru yang diluluskan RoS ini UMNO akan menjadi lebih inklusif akan menjadi lebih mantap berjuang demi rakyat.

(UMNO-Online) – Harapan dan pesanan kepada akar umbi untuk PAU 2020 ini.

(SUA) – Apabila kita berlawan dengan Pakatan Harapan (PH) selama 22 bulan, pada ketika itu kita cukup fokus. Fokus kita ialah betu-betul berlawan dengan PH dan kita tidak ada berlawan sesama sendiri. Ikhlas saya katakan berlawan sesama sendiri lebih menyakitkan daripada musuh yang cukup nyata di depan…musuh politiklah.

Oleh itu saya ingin menyeru kepada pimpinan UMNO kita dah lama dalam parti dan kita tahu berlawan sesama sendiri ini akan memecah-belahkan parti dan lebih elok kita tumpukan untuk kita kukuhkan parti daripada kita memecahkan parti dan ini perkara penting.

Untung nasib kita dalam UMNO ini ialah merupakan qada’ dan qadar daripada Allah SWT dan apabila kita telah diberikan satu-satu jawatan maka kita laksanakan jawatan kita dengan baik mengikut arahan pucuk pimpinan tetapi apabila kita tidak lagi memegang sesuatu jawatan kita seterusnya hendaklah taat sebagai ahli parti untuk melaksanakan apa yang merupakan keputusan parti.

Jadi harapan saya adalah perkara-perkara ini diperincikan dan perkara-perkara ini disedari oleh pimpinan yang ada dan mereka juga adalah orang-orang yang lama dalam politik dan apabila kita telah membuat sesuatu keputusan dan tentunya kita membuat kajian keputusan yang dibuat. Apabila keputusan dibuat kita hendaklah bersama-sama melaksanakan keputusan tersebut.

PAU2020: Exclusive with UMNO Secretary-General

THE UMNO General Assembly (PAU) 2020 this weekend will not only create history for being held face to face and virtual but is attracting the attention of many parties following its two important political decisions recently.
Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan reaffirmed this during an exclusive interview with UMNO-Online. Excerpts:
Question: The assembly will be different from the previous ones because it is planned during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). How is the preparation at this stage?
Answer: Alhamdulillah, thanks God The Almighty that the National Security Council (MKN) and also the police have given their approvals for us to hold a general assembly on March 27-28. These are long-awaited approvals, and with that there are no obstacles for us to implement it, even in the Federal Territory which is still under CMCO.
Whatever it is, we will abide by allSOPs (standard operating procedures). This is historic since the assembly will be held face to face and virtually for the first time in the party’s 75 years history.
Face to face conference will be at Dewan Merdeka World Trade Centre (WTC) and we also Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, apart from Dewan Tun Dr Ismail. There will be delegates from 190 divisions for face to face conferences here. The rest can watch it ‘live’ on FB channel at their respective divisions. The Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri conference will be on Saturday March 27.
This is something unique and unprecedented in PAU’s 75 -year history.
Question: At this time around, PAU has also withdrawn the interest of others outside the party. How does Datuk Seri see the ‘mood’ among party leadership and the grassroots themselves.
Answer: Our two big decisions recently are the main attention. The motions of 124 divisions or representing 65 per cent of the (Tanah Merah division is still under suspension) brings jitters to many. Its about their refusal to cooperate with PPBM in the 15th general election. Second, our support for Perikatan Nasional will cease once the Parliament is dissolved.
Due to the gravity of it, PAU this time is the focus of many parties because it will decide the future of domestic politics in the next few months. I hope the atmosphere is under control as we give freedom to Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri reps to speak freely on Sunday. This includes the policy speeches from Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri Chief and also our President.
Certainly they will touch on matters related to politics, economic, social, religious, education, international and current issues regarding COVID-19, the people’s predicaments and others.
Question: UMNO seems to be facing bigger challenges after GE14. What is your take on that?
Answer: I had mentioned several times if the president and his deputies are in the spirit of togetherness, the party will remain strong. Down the history, we have seen how Tun Dr Mahathir and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were at odds, causing the party to split. Anwar set up PKR, which later on saw his deputy Datuk Seri Azmin Ali left the party for PPBM.
So is PAS when the president and his deputy are not on the same page which prompted Mohamad Sabu setting up Parti Amanah Negara. I think as long as number one and number two are on the same turf, the party will encounter no major problems. Its undeniable that we are free from outsiders’ bad disposition but we have faith in the President and his deputy. With them around, I believe we can get through it.
Question: Talk about challenges, how does Datuk Seri see evaluate it?
Answer: Anything decided by the MKT (Supreme Working Council) is made democratically by the President. I joined all the big meetings and the President established what is called the Political Bureau comprising a management committee and 13 state liaison chairmen.
This is how wise the President is. The two major decisions derived at ILMU Janda Baik are very testimonial. No one objected it and it was not disputed. Those one or two people opposing it actually have the intention to weaken the party and break us apart.
Question: The assembly is also seen as a preparation for the next GE. Don’t you think so?
Answer: Yes, we have to prepare for GE-15. From the government statements, we can deduce specific dates. Whatever it is, it has to be conducted called or later. At least, when the current 5-year term ends, its time for election. We must be prepared, and UMNO must win most seat this time on.
Question: How do you want UMNO to be portrayed?
Answer: COVID-19 is already a year, and our main concern is the people. UMNO must be seen as championing the cause of the people. That is why we have been going around assisting and listening to them. We care for them, we defend their rights and interests. I want UMNO to become a place for the people seek solace.
Our priority is always the people. They are what the party is championing for, nothing else. We have ears to listen, we want to ensure that their predicaments and their voices are well-carried across. This is our ultimate struggle. We even went to the extent of amending the party’s Constitution to make it better, and it will be brought to PAU for approval by the RoS (Registrar of Societies).
Hopefully with the new amended Constitution, UMNO will be more inclusive and enhance in its struggle for the people.
Question: What is your hope and and message to the grassroots at this PAU2020?
Answer: When we battled the 22-month regime of Pakatan Harapan, we were quite persistent. Internal bickering was put behind. Our common enemy then was PH. We are solid and determined. That’s how solid were were because internal fighting will be more painful than going against the real political enemy.
Therefore, I would like to call on the UMNO leadership that since we have been in the party for a long time, knowing how internal fighting can weaken and split the party, its time to close ranks and be together again. No matter who or what, its time to move forward as one.
Its all written in the lines of our palms. We had governed the country before and were given good positions and opportunities. However, when we discard the leadership and go our own way, we took a tumble. So, let’s become party loyalists and abide by the majority decision.
