Ahmad Maslan & Shahril Hamdan are new Sec-Gen, Information Chief

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 – Pontian Member of Parliament have been appointed as UMNO new secretary-general to replace Tan Sri Annuar Musa who was appointed as Federal Territory Minister.

UMNO also appoints Deputy Youth Chief Sharil Sufian Hamdan as the new Information Chief, replacing Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah who was made Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.

UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said in a statement Assistant Secretary to Pemuda UMNO Malaysia Mohd Rais Mohd Yasin is appointed a new Supreme Council member.

On other matters, Zahid said UMNO supported Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to formed his Cabinet on March 1st as a moral obligation in liberating the people from the ugly political crisis which led to the fall of Pakatan Harapan government following his resignation on February 21.

“UMNO will continue supporting the new government until the 15th general election based on several criteria, among which is for the government to ensure the realisation of the people’s aspirations,” he said.

The new government, he said must be strict in expediting its responsibility to provide the rakyat with proper prosperity regardless of race, religion and ethnicity.

“The new government must speed up efforts in weathering the economic downfall, including charting an effective plan to brace the global economic impact and the adverse impact of Covid-19 pandemic, and to redress the sensitivity of interfaith relation in the country,” he said.
